As a journalist Nadler covered the civil conflicts in Kosovo and Macedonia (1998-2000), and the Serbian uprising in 2000.

Nadler was born in Fernie, British Columbia in 1961. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University British Columbia (1984), a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University (1985), and a Master of Journalism degree from Carleton (1990).

He is the author of A Perfect Hell and Searching for Sofia.
